"Perfect Partnership"

Today (my birtday!) Nile Rodgers released 2 unique video's on his website www.nilerodgers.com in the members section. As he states there: "In honor of Bernard Edwards 10th anniversary of his ascension, Nile has released never before seen CHIC video interviews from the early 80s. Nile found this rare footage in his basement while working on the new CHIC album." Well, these video's ARE unique! You can see and hear them rehearsing "Love And Be Loved" from the unreleased Johnny Mathis album (great tune btw!) together with Fonzi Thornton. They're talking about why Fonzi sings and about their busy year producing 40 songs in 8 months, it's simply a must see for any CHIC fan!

It's over now

For about 2 years I was a member of the MMBase developers list and today I decided to quit. Compared to the Apache.org lists i'm still subscribed to this list was a joke. Basically the whole community consists of a handful developers that have been on this project since it started and are not willing to let new people in their world. My main frustration was that the Lucenemodule I wrote that was not part of their project and is hosted on Sourceforge was copied into a 'new' project by one of the committors... In real opensource projects people help out each other and join forces but not here. Recently after the latest release of my version the committors of the clone seemed to have simply copied one of the new features I added to my module to their codebase! Last week they proposed a vote to add the clone module to be part of the 'contributions' of MMBase which was not questioned by any of the voters and basically that was it for me....

Luxurious Gold

One of my favorite online shops must be Conrad, the nice thing is they have pictures of everything and I'll spend quite some time browsing there. One one occasion I found some RCA jacks i needed to make a cable and next to these were RCA connectors that looked like the ones inside the Nakamichi CR decks I recently aquired, only these were Gold plated! I ordered 2, the price was low, only 1.49 each so worth a try! A few days later they arrived and appeared to be an exact match! The only thing was that I needed to change the red/white coloring on the connectors since it was upside down, this was easy to do by partly dismantling the connectors. The whole procedure can be found on my website Naks.com.
