My 2nd ELAC

ELAC CD-400 or CD400 or CD 400

Today the mail brought me my 2nd ELAC Nakamichi OEM deck! This time it's the ELAC CD-400 the little brother of the CD-500 I found recently. The main differences are that this one doesn't have Dolby B noise reduction and the headphones connector is missing. Another difference is size, it's a bit smaller then the CD-500. The previous owner also painted the nice wooden box of this vintage early 70's deck black! After a de-paint job the case now looks good again (see the picture). Technically it's ok, only some broken lights that can be fixed easily.

Soundsational!

Avila Brothers, The Mood : Soundsational

They are working with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for quite some time now as writers and co-producers and now they released their own album and I think it is great! The format brings back memories to the Masters at Work NuYorican Soul album and various Quincy Jones all-star albums, both made by great producers. The Mood : Soundsational is a very nice mix of various styles, I think I like all songs!! I Want You (a song Marvin Gay could have made) and Let It Go are my favorites... both were made with help of the masters themselves: Jam & Lewis! Why did they never make an album like this?? buy it here

Dance, Dance, Dance!

Chic on Buddah records

Before they signed to  Atlantic in 1977 Chic released their first 12'' Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah) on Buddah records! I didn't know this until recently when I found a copy of this record on Ebay and immediately bought it. It remembered me of the biography that was released on Chic and that was still on my Amazon whish list... I orderd a copy, more on this soon!

CR-1

Nakamichi CR-1E

Could not resist to get this Nakamichi CR-1E from a local auction, it was on sale next to my house and included a box full of Sony UX / UX-S tapes. The condition of the deck is flawless, it works perfectly. In the past these CR decks didn't thrill me, the CR-4 did and this one is not a bad deck. Biggest oops is the mechanical tape counter, the only reason I would consider upgrading to a CR-2 one time. Overall it has the same 'touch' as the CR-4 but lacks the goodies that make it's big brother a real nice Nak!

HK-1000

Found this rare early 70's Harman Kardon HK-1000 deck on a national auction site and received it today by mail. It is also an OEM deck made by Nakamichi, you can recognize this clearly by the Dolby Board inside. One of it's previous owners had painted the nice wooden case black so i've been busy to clean this and bring it back to it's original state. Also it has a technical problem that I have to look into. But a nice looking top-loading deck!
